In a comic sketch facial expressions are one of the toughest things to get right. But the expression is key to story telling. Today I was sketching a few facial expressions from references as part of regular practice. I ended up with a nice little caricature of one of Jim Carrey’s exaggerated expressions. I liked it so much I though I’d share it with you.

Here’s the reference expression first… I found it on Pinterest. Jim Carrey's Expressions. Notice the eyebrows, the jaw and the open mouth. The wide open eyes complete the effect of crazy rage.

And now here’s my caricature sketch done in pencil. Hope you have a good laugh over this.
